Bowden Bros. Ltd were the first to introduce the electronic type earth fault indicator for 11 kV cable networks and have since been actively developing new features to improve the operational engineering and electricity customer related benefits of the instrument. Their latest development is the 'Batteryless' EEFI which concentrates on removing routine maintenance costs whilst continuing to provide the same high level of reliability achieved trom the earlier Bowden battery type EEFI's.

Earth fault Indicators
The use of Earth Fault Indicators on high voltage cable networks is invaluable in assisting engineers to quickly identify a faulted section of cable by simply following the alarmed EFI's along the circuit. The fault will be found beyond the last one to 'Alarm'.

The EEFIINB Module
The EEFI/NB is designed to operate remotely or close coupled to split or solid core balance current transformers. (See note in Technical Specification) It incorporates Bowden 'batteryless' technology together with the latest in electronic developments to provide the ultimate in reliability and no routine maintenance. The electronics are enclosed in a tough polycarbonate UV resistant enclosure and completely encapsulated in a flexible polyurethane compound to provide total protection against weather and environmental conditions. The front pane of the module displays a clear, bright RED flag for alarm indications and a manual 'alarm reset' push button.

Alarm indicator flag
When alarmed by system fault current a normally black indicator flips to display a bright 'RED' indicator flag There are several models of 'Batteryless EEFI' and all will have the basic feature of remaining in the alarmed state for about 3 hours when it will automatically reset or until manually reset using the push button.

Plus - Automatic reset facility for any voltage between 30 volts and 240 volts ac.
