BOWDEN INSTALLATION SERVICES has been set up to compliment the products that Bowden Bros Ltd have been offering to the E.S.I. in recent years. The main requirement was for a specialised team to be able to integrate the skills necessary to install and commission electronic equipment onto the H.V. Network, with the necessary Authorisation, and working knowledge of the safety rules applicable to the task in hand.
B.I.S. has now undertaken the installation and full commissioning of over 225 ROSCO 11KV Rural Network Automation schemes, and has built up a team of highly skilled electronic engineers working in conjunction with fitters and linesmen who have each served a considerable number of years in the Supply Industry. Our specialist work has included carrying out commission testing of over 50 Pole Mounted Auto-reclosers prior to installation on the network.
All site work is carried out under the direct supervision of our Field Manager, who has over twenty years of operational experience with a U.K. REC, with an intimate working knowledge of distribution networks at 11 kV and 33KV, as well as a vital understanding of the safety and procedural standards. Bowdens Consultancy, now under the umbrella of B.l.S., have undertaken industrial contracts with, among others, Tilbury Docks, Smith Kline Beecham, Sheffield Forgemasters, Harrods, and on The Channel Tunnel. These range from contracts to install specialist H.V. supplies to mobile cranes, to fault calculations on established H.V. networks.
