OMNIF-FI
is the latest development in the Bowden range of electronic earth fault indicators and offers the technological advancement necessary to meet modern day power system fault indicator requirements. The OMNI-FI is a programmable Directional Earth Fault and Overcurrent Indicator. It is built into a small polycarbonate enclosure that is rated to IP67 and the electronics are environmentally protected internally by a polyurethane encapsulant.

Power source
the OMNI-FI operates from stored energy derived from the LV 'Reference' voltage supply. During System Fault conditions this stored energy provides sufficient power for Directional Fault Indications and Alarm Outputs until the LV supply is restored.

Fault Indications
these are provided by an LCD that gives a representation of fault direction on a circular display that is split into 8 sectors. When in the 'Alarmed' state one of these sectors will change from 'clear' to 'black'. As to which Sector changes to 'black' is determined by the phase relationship of the fault current with the LV Reference Voltage at the instant the fault occurs on the system. Thus, on a 'closed ring' circuit the fault current from one source will cause, say, Sector 1 to indicate by changing from 'clear' to 'black'. Fault Current from the other source will be in the opposite direction and cause a Sector 1800 opposite to indicate 'black' i.e. Sector 4 or 5. The Faulted Section of network is between the two OMNI-EFI's that indicate a 1800 change in the Sectors. Over Current and Earth Fault Indications are given by the appropriate symbol on the LCD i.e. OC RIY/B or EF Both are given if the fault is both.

Resetting Indications & Alarms
there are three ways of resetting an Alarmed OMNI-FI to the Alert mode. 1. Press 'push-button' reset on front face of OMN I-Fl. 2. Automatic reset after 3 hours. This time is programmable and can be set up to 6 hours. 3. Remote Reset (certain models only) 4. LV reset is optional. The time delay for reset after the supply has been restored is programmable.
