EEFI with alarm output for automation
THE EEFI Model ‘RR’
The Bowden range of Electronic Earth Fault Indicators (EEFI) have been found invaluable in assisting distribution engineers in identifying faulted cable sections on 11 kV cable networks. The EEFI Model PR’ was developed for the EF indication associated with the automation of HV cable networks and has now completed further research and development work to include full EMC compliance.

The EEFI RR Module The EEFI/RR is designed to operate either remotely or close coupled to, split or solid core balance current transformers.
It incorporates the latest in electronics technology on a multi-layered pcb for the ultimate in reliability and EMC immunity and emissions protection.
The electronics are enclosed in a tough polycarbonate UV resistant enclosure and completely encapsulated in a flexible polyurethane compound to provide total protection against weather and environmental conditions.
The front panel of the EEFI module displays a red, high brightness LED for alarm indications and sealed push buttons for manual alarm and reset operations.
Flashing Lamp Alarm The high brightness LED flashes when the EEFI is alarmed by the current imbalance caused by a down-stream system fault. It will continue to flash for 3 hours, when it will reset automatically, (optional 6 hours) or until the remote reset function is operated, whichever occurs first.
Remote Reset The remote reset function is only operative if the Reset Terminals within the instrument enclosure are either connected to ‘pulse’ the local low voltage supplies via a suitable step down transformer or connected to a regional telemetry/SCADA system. A 240v reset version is also available. The alarm circuit can also be restored to the alert mode by pressing the reset button on the front panel of the EEFI.
Internal Connector Blocks
External telecom and CT cables are brought to the EEFI internal connector block through suitable cable glands which maintain the P rating of EEFI enclosure.
There are three clearly labelled internal connector blocks for connections to the CT secondary, telecom alarm output and the remote reset facility.
